About Louisiana OperationsDow Louisiana Operations is celebrating 50 years of operation at our Plaquemine site. Since 1956, Dow has been part of our surrounding communities while producing a variety of products that help improve people’s lives every day. We look forward to the future and the continued support of our communities. Dow’s Louisiana Operations began in 1956 with the purchase of four plantations in Iberville and West Baton Rouge parishes. Abundant natural resources, an excellent transportation network, deep water port, easy access to the Mississippi River, a dedicated workforce and available land were major reasons for Dow coming to Louisiana. Our 1,500-acre integrated facility near Plaquemine and our brine operations in Grand Bayou today comprise one of the largest petrochemical facilities in Louisiana. With more than 3,000 employees and contract employees, we are also the largest employer in Iberville and West Baton Rouge parishes. Home to most of Dow’s global businesses, 23 production units manufacture more than 50 different basic and specialty chemical products. These products are shipped worldwide to serve as the building blocks for hundreds of products used every day. Some of the consumer products include soaps, detergents, food additives, cosmetics, shampoos, diaper liners, non-oil base paints, pharmaceuticals and herbidices.
For over 50 years, Louisiana Operations has been a part of the surrounding community, providing jobs, economic stability and striving to maintain and enhance the quality of life. We welcome your interest in our operations, and encourage you to browse this website for more information about Louisiana Operations’ processes, products and people.
